There is a ticking time bomb inside your home that could end up costing you thousands of dollars once it explodes. And it will explode if you do nothing. Do you know what it is? They may be small, but if the water supply hoses on your washing machine burst, your home can be subjected to considerable water damage, costing thousands of dollars to repair.

The water bill arrives and the consumption is higher than normal. In looking at the bill you realize it's winter time, your water consumption is down, but the bill says it is up as if its summer when your water consumption is higher. Then it hits you water quality a water leak! At some point almost all homeowners run into this problem.

When you get to the house stand if front of the toilet and locate the water shut off valve. Should be down below the toilet on the wall. Just turn it off (righty-tighty) completely and flush the toilet. All the water should have left the tank, well at least most of it. If there is remaining water line repair get it out with paper towels or a rag. The important thing is that no more water came in. If it did then your valve is not shut all the way or not working and you need additional help.



Leaks can occur anywhere in your reverse osmosis water filter system. If this ever occurs, check the source of the leak. It may be from the hoses, fittings and the valves. Most of the time, some kind of tightening might be necessary. So make sure to securely tighten the fittings. If this does not work, you may need to replace the filter itself, however that might take a bit more work.

Dishwasher. To check water leakage on your dishwasher, you will need several sheets of paper placed underneath the machine before operating it. When the machine stops, check the sheets of paper you placed underneath to see it they are wet. If so, call a maintenance person to repair the leak immediately. It is important also for you to remember that regular dishwasher uses 15 gallons on every wash load. Make sure that when you use it, the load is full.

Remove the cap of the faucet using slip-joint pliers. Tape the teeth of the pliers to prevent damage of the surface. Remove the faucet cam washer and water line repair the rotating ball.

68. Sea sickness: I always keep a bucket in the cockpit, much better that the sufferer is sick into a receptacle of sorts than tries to be sick over the side.

Is your garbage disposal clogged, but it is turning ok? This may be due to a blockage in the pipe. If you look at the pipe work under your sink you will see that the disposal is connected to a pipe that should join to a U bend and providing it was installed correctly it should have a connector that can be undone. If you undo this connector the pipe will pull away and generally this is where most blockages occur. Remove the blockage and reconnect the pipe.
